Patty Cakes Bakery, 3 North 4th Street, Fernandina Beach, Florida
I work two doors away from Patty Cakes Bakery and this is often a stop on the way into work for coffee, a bagel, cinnamon rolls or a horn. Patty and Tom, the owners are from New York and make an effort to stock with the same baked goods you see in the city. What impressed me with Patty Cakes is the consistency. When a coffee & bakery place moved in next door, I wondered if they would start out with a bang...only to slowly decline in quality.
This has not been the case. They consistently have some of the best bagel and coffee around. I was most impressed one morning when I tried to order a cheese bagel toasted with creme cheese and a Costa Rican coffee. Tom said he wouldn't sell me one because his early morning bagel delivery didn't come and the bagels on the rack were from yesterday. Attention to detail and quality even if the customer wouldn't notice make a great business. I would recommend trying this place if you haven't already. I prefer the Costa Rican Coffee, btw...to the house, but my wife likes the house blend more. They use real half and half on the counter, btw, not the disgusting packets of fake dairy.

I'm glad the island finally has a great bakery. This place offers breakfast and the absolute best coffee I have tasted around here. Very rich, and full body coffee with no aftertaste. I would recommend trying the bagel sandwich, it was very good. I have a very good cinnamon bunn too.

Wow, the cupcakes are huge! What a great idea. Not the usual tiny cupcakes you see everywhere. I had a giant "Hostess" type looking cupcake with the cream filling and icing on top with the white squiggle line and all. It was fantastic!! They also have the best coffee I have tasted on the island and believe me I have been everywhere. That Seattle place used to be the only pace to go and you had to endure their horrible burnt tasting coffee. I go to Patty Cakes now it's just two blocks over.
